Welcome to another Monday Team Maple!
I really hope you all had a great weekend despite the ever changing, strange weather!
My apologises again for my muddle on Friday. I really hope I didn't confuse too many of you. Thank you for the email from one parent to clarify so I could correct the error. I'd spent so long putting together the instructions for this week it was on my mind.
I hope you are still finding the website and the way it is organised useful. Pleased don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions. The overview is a useful way to keep track of the tasks and the order I suggest you do them in, but it is of course just a suggestion.
So this week:
Keep active: Joe Wicks, Cosmic Yoga, Andy's Wild Workouts, Go Noodle, Just dance, Bike Rides, Walks.
Weekly Challenge: Can you make up a work out routine like Andy or Joe Wicks? It could have star jumps, steps, lunges, jogging on the spot and stretches. Maybe you could video the routine for us all to have a go at.
Keep Writing: Our SPaG work this week focuses on synonyms which works well alongside our story writing.
The writing focus this week is story writing. As this is the second story writing challenge since lockdown I have listed lots of ideas for the story based on our learning over the last few weeks, but I am happy for the children to let their imaginations go and write about anything they would like to. Please see the Instructions document for further details. There are two different planning sheets, but please only ask your child to complete 1.
If the children are handwriting their story they should be writing in their best handwriting. I have saved a handwriting practice sheet for each day, but only if you feel they are needed. Most children I will imagine will struggle with these and writing the story.
Keep Counting/Maths: This week we are learning about rotation and directional language. We have lovely White Rose worksheets again but there aren't videos to support them so we have found some supportive videos from other sources. The worksheets and a document with the videos are all saved for you in the maths file, including the answer sheets.
Wider Curriculum: This week there are two historical projects. One is looking at the jobs of people in castles in the Norman times and another is creating a non-chronological report about a castle. There are more details for both of these challenges on the relevant documents. Please have fun and be creative with them. There are also programmes on Purple Mash they could record their Castle research on.

I have updated Purple Mash again with some further challenges. If you enjoyed the first chapter of I wish I was a fish, the second chapter is available and the rest of the story will be added weekly. I will keep checking this more regularly and would love to see some work from others to fill the display board with work from as many different people as possible.
