Good Morning Team Lime and Willow!
I have loved hearing from some of you today, although it was a little quieter than yesterday. I have loved how you have been making your own clocks and I have even seen a model of the clock tower from St Albans which was amazing as it had working hands. I look forward to hearing from you all soon.
Today you might like to:
Get some fresh air by going for a walk, into your garden or complete an exercise video online (see website list). Alternatively, cutting Skills – Back to Earth with a Bump sheet (see attachment).
HAVE A CIRCLE TIME (PSED)
Reflect on your time at home by creating a ‘Home Learning 2020 Time Capsule’ with your family. Think about objects, pictures, photographs that might be included in it. You might like to use the attached sheets for guidance.
COMPLETE A MORNING ADULT DIRECTED LEARNING ACTIVITY (UW)
Listen to the Solar System Song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZ-qLUIj_A0
Listen to the Planet Song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mQrlgH97v94
Ask a grown-up to help you find out some facts about space. You could use the Internet or books to find out some information. Maybe you could find out the names of some planets or the names of some astronauts. Try to remember your favourite fact to share with the group.
LEARNING THROUGH PLAY
Play for at least an hour in the morning and in the afternoon with no TV or electrical gadgets.
Enjoy a drink and a healthy snack with your child. You might like to talk about how and why it is important to keep healthy and where food comes from.
READING FOR PLEASURE
Read to your child a story or two. Don’t forget to talk about: the title, author, illustrator, blurb, what is happening and where, what has been said, how characters are feeling and what they might be thinking. Can you recall the sequence of the story? Beginning/middle/end?
READ TO LEARN SKILLS AND APPLY THEM
Write the sentence below on a piece of paper. Can you read the sentence (Phase 3), applying what you know about the diagraph (two letters, one sound) ‘ck’? Where are the tricky words (he, the)? Where are the capital letters? Why do the other words have capital letters (they are names)? Where is the full stop? What is a zip and where can you find one? Can you fasten a zip?
He did up the zip on Zinat’s jacket.
Listen to your child read and discuss their book. Look on the website Oxford owl for free eBooks if required or you can use books from your book corner. Read the book together stopping to allow your child to read the words you think they might know.
PRACTISE YOUR PHONICS
Complete the DfE Letters and Sounds lesson on: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCP_FbjYUP_UtldV2K_-niWw/channels?view_as=public and/or write some letters on small pieces of paper or sticky notes. Can you build words with the letters?
HAVE A 5 MINUTE MATHS MEETING
My favourite season is when it is cold – sometimes it is snowy too. I like to build snowmen, wear my woolly scarves and gloves and drink hot chocolate. What is my favourite season? Can you think of any other seasons? Which one is your favourite? Can you describe your day to a grown-up? Can you use the words; ‘morning’, ‘afternoon’, ‘evening’ and ‘night’?
COMPLETE AN AFTERNOON ADULT DIRECTED LEARNING ACTIVITY (CL)
Listen to the story, ‘Back to Earth with a Bump’ (see attachment).
Use the ‘Talk Cards’ as a prompt to discuss the story.
Imagine that you are on a space rocket… talk through your adventure.
Challenge: Role play space station and develop an extended narrative.
I look forward to hearing about what has kept you busy today and hope you and your family have a good day.
