Monday 8th June 2020

Good Morning Hazel Class,

I hope you had a wonderful weekend. I ate a lot of cake from The Enchanted Tea Rooms because they do a special take-away service every other Sunday...yum!

From today all the documents you need to do your work will be available on the school website, instead of attached to this email. We  hope this makes it easier for you to find and to go back and find something if you have missed it from earlier in the week.

This week Mrs Joseph and I would like Year 5 to focus on maths skills.

Here are the tasks I would like you to have a go at today please:

Maths: Mrs Joseph and I will be designing lessons and presenting the work to you in a similar way we would be if we were in school.  We will be following the same schedule as BBC bitesize and Whiterose maths with the intention that, if you need the additional practice, a video or a different way of it being explained to you, those resources are there to help you.  We will also try to include some helpful links at the end of each session for you. There is a PowerPoint on the school website for you to watch, plus 2 documents you will need.

Maths Meeting:

English: This week you are going to use an Oak Academy programme to write a set of instructions.

This is an online academy that was created to help deliver online lessons during corona virus and has been recommended by the DfE.  You can find out more information about it here if you like.  We have also created a guide to help you navigate the lessons for the first time.  Please read this before you begin to help make the lesson run as smoothly as possible.  Let us know how you get on with it (if you are finding it helpful or too tricky) so we can plan future lessons accordingly.

The task list for week, including the links in on our website.

Handwriting: a new pangram to have a go at every day. Information on the website

Spelling: Choose an activity from the spelling menu - this is re-saved on the website today

Wider Curriculum: It is World Ocean Day. Enjoy watching some of the videos and having a go at the activities on the information sheet I sent out on Friday. It is also on the website for today's Hazel Class tasks.

Sport: Make sure you do at least 30 minutes of activity a day. See the wider curriculum activity menu for Summer 2, on today's Hazel Class tasks on the website.

Also on today's webpage is the suggested timetable for the week, so you can see ahead to what we have planned.

I'll 'speak' to you all later when you start sending in your fantastic work.

Mrs Couch
