Dear Year 4 (8.6.20)

Hope you are all well and have had a good weekend! Thank you to all those that contacted me last week and sent me pictures of your work. I've really enjoyed seeing your Maths work on coordinates and vertices. I also enjoyed seeing your fantastic writing that you all came up with as well as your various extracurricular tasks that you've started. Today I am in school, so if you have any queries or questions please email Mrs Smith:

Please refer to the writing sheet for today's writing focus. Choose at least one task, more is better, from the past three days. Either, write a short story or poem based on the character of 'a scared elephant' (Saturday's task), write a short story about 'winning the lottery' (Sunday's task) or write a descriptive paragraph using 'your kitchen' as the setting (Monday's task).

I have also attached a Science task linked to our recent Art topic of nature. You will need to have an explore outside to look for resources, looking for various twigs and leaves. You will then use these materials to create your own paintbrushes. Not only would I like you to create your own Art work using these materials but also bring in a Science element, review and evaluate which of the leaves you found made the best paintbrush. Think about recording some information in a table which you can then compare and use to help you evaluate. Write your finding in a conclusion paragraph.

Also, feel free to continue with the maths games that I sent out on Friday. You can also try to create your own maths game based on ones that you've seen.

Continue reading regularly everyday as much as possible and learning your spellings.

Please continue with the tasks from the new and updates menu of activities this week. I look forward to seeing the fantastic learning you guys get up to. Make sure you all work to a schedule that best fits you.

You can email photos of your learning to me at: and I will reply to any emails that you send me, I can provide you with further challenges and ideas if you wish! I will be available to respond to your learning this morning until midday.
