Hello Team Acorns

We hope you had a lovely day yesterday finding out about caterpillars and butterflies.

Today you could try these activities:

Phonics: Practise rhyming today. ‘Finish the Rhyme’ game. Use books with predictable rhymes that the children are familiar with and then stop when you come to the final word in the rhyme. Invite children to complete it. Use plenty of intonation and expression when you recount the rhyme or story. You could also do this with familiar Nursery Rhymes or songs.

Physical Development: We would like you to do some yoga today. Try ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ Cosmic Kids yoga.

Mathematical Development: Think about the food the Hungry Caterpillar ate. Do you have any of the food in your house? Count how many of each fruit/food you have. Choose different food/fruit if you don’t have the same. Can you show how many you have by drawing or matching to a numeral?

Story: Use this link to hear Mrs Keith reading ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar.’ See if you can predict the next events in the story. Can you help Mrs Keith with the counting?

Understanding the World: Have a look in your garden today and see if you can find any caterpillars or butterflies. What colour are they? Can you describe them? How do they move?

We hope you have fun with whatever activities you choose to do today.
