Our aim is to provide a happy, safe, and stimulating environment where our children can have fun and relax after school.

About the Club

The Redbourn After School Club is a non-profit making organisation for children in Reception to year 6, who attend Redbourn Primary School.

The Club is registered with, and regularly inspected by, Ofsted. Our registration certificate and the latest Ofsted report are available to be viewed.  In our recent Ofsted Inspection (December 2015) we were judged to be Outstanding.

Venue

The Club is held in the safe and spacious Redbourn Primary School.  There are areas for quiet work and messy play.  We have the use of a large enclosed field for supervised games, and the use of the main hall.  There are ample toilets and washing facilities.

Times and Dates

We are open four days a week, Tuesday to Friday, from 3.15 to 6.15pm during term time.

Please note that the Club is not open on INSET days and certain other days when the school require use of the facilities, for example, on parent consultation evenings.

Our Staff

Carole Clarke and the team have a wealth of experience working with children of primary school age.

We have a staffing ratio of 1:8 to comply with the Children’s Act 1989 and all staff members have been CRB/DBS checked.  Our club is registered with Ofsted and complies with current national guidelines.  Ofsted conduct regular inspections.

Activities

All activities are supervised and often follow a theme, or mark a special event.

Children are allowed to choose any available activity they wish.  They are encouraged to play with other children; however we respect their needs and no one is forced to join in against their wishes.

We offer indoor and outdoor team games (weather permitting), a book corner, dressing up and make believe.  There is a TV, a computer and a PlayStation; and a quiet area for resting or homework.

There is a good selection of toys and board games available for the children to choose from, and plenty of opportunity for creative play.

Management

The Club is overseen by a voluntary management group of parents. It comprises at least three honorary officers who are elected at the AGM. The committee is responsible for setting Club Policy and ensuring that it operates in accordance with National and HCC guidelines.

Standards

The Club has policies for Child Protection, Safety, Health, Equal Opportunities, Special Needs, and Behaviour. Please ask the manager if you wish to view these policies.

Behaviour

We expect children to behave courteously and responsibly towards each other and to the staff in accordance with School and Club Policies. Incidents of unacceptable behaviour will be recorded and brought to the attention of the parents/carers.  Persistent unacceptable behaviour may lead to the privilege of Club membership being withdrawn.
